Packet Spy is a tool designed to monitor incoming and outgoing packets of a network. It is of most use in scenarios where the security of a packet needs to be verified. It also monitors the responses triggered on the network from these packets. Packet Spy displays a screen of sent and received packets through the network. It can also log results to a file for further examination.
The feature I liked most about this program was the ability to display IP/TCP/UDP packet header information. This application also has a wireless interface, which uses the Windows NDIS driver interface. It also uses Windows Wireless Zero for the Wi-Fi interface, though this may not always work. Specific traffic can be monitored with the use of filters. Reports can be output to log files for better examination. Packet Spy is one of the few programs that offer a packet review from a single source.
Packet Spy requires a valid IPv4 network environment. The new release features WiFi AP listing, and also has copy/paste hot keys. The developers of the program have also improved GUI, and NIC promiscuous mode.
